What Indonesia packages leave out
The quote looks complete until you start wondering what you will still pay for on arrival.
IndonesiaQuest Editorial · Updated 20 October 2026
Every Indonesia package leaves some rows outside the price, and the useful habit is to find them before you pay. This checklist groups the rows that can sit outside a quote, so you can ask about each one, using the budgets and package decisions hub as the wider map.
We publish no fixed prices because they depend on dates, party and season. The aim here is to help you spot gaps.
Which rows can sit outside a quote?
Tick each row against your quote. A row without an answer is a question for the agency.
| Row | Why it can sit outside | The question to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Flights from Malaysia | Land-only quotes start at landing | Are flights, baggage and airport tax inside? |
| Entry tickets | Priced per site | Which sites are listed, which paid at the gate? |
| Tourist levy | Paid by the traveller | Who pays, and when? |
| Meals | Breakfast only in some quotes | Which meals are inside? |
| Tips | A personal choice | Does any service charge sit in the price? |
| Insurance | Bought by you | Is cover offered, and what does it include? |
| Shopping and extras | Personal spending | What do I set aside myself? |
What about the levy and entry fees?
Bali asks international visitors to pay a tourist levy of IDR 150,000 on the official portal [1]. The portal accepts bank transfer, virtual account and QRIS, and emails a QR voucher after payment [2]. Ask whether your agency pays it for you or leaves it with you.
Entry tickets vary by site. Our guide on the Bali levy and entry fees in your total cost shows where they fit.
Want a second pair of eyes on your plan?
If your quote leaves you unsure what is still to pay, send it with your dates and party. We will mark the rows that look excluded and can pass your brief to a licensed agency.
You get a reply from a person who reads your plan, plus a quote from a licensed Malaysian agency if you want one. What about meals, tips and insurance?
Meals inside a quote can be limited to breakfast. Muslim travellers should ask for a meal-by-meal list and look for the BPJPH halal logo, the Indonesian halal agency’s label, when eating out.
Tips for drivers, guides and spa staff are a personal choice, covered in our tipping budget guide. Insurance is bought by you, and the travel insurance guide lists what to check.
How do you close the gaps?
Ask the agency to return the quote with every row marked as included, excluded or unpriced. Keep the list with your booking confirmation. The package inclusion comparator helps you line up two quotes.
Our hidden costs checklist for Bali adds the small extras that appear on the ground.

Questions Malaysians ask
What can an Indonesia package leave out?
Flights in land-only quotes, entry tickets, the destination levy, tips, shopping, insurance and some meals can sit outside. Packages differ, so ask the agency for a written list of included and excluded rows.
Is travel insurance included in a package?
Some packages offer it as an add-on, and others leave it to you. Check what the policy covers and whether the activities on your route are included. Our insurance guide lists what to check.
Are tips included?
Tips are a personal choice, so quotes can leave them out. Set a small budget in ringgit for drivers, guides and spa staff, and ask the agency whether any service charge already sits in the price.
How do I find hidden extras before I pay?
Ask for the quote with every row marked as included, excluded or unpriced, and read it twice. Any row you cannot place is a question for the agency.
