How we research and update guides
You deserve to know where each fact comes from and how we keep pages current.
Every IndonesiaQuest page follows the same editorial policy. We research from official sources, show the date on facts, write in plain language, and correct pages when you tell us something has changed. This page explains each part so you can judge our work for yourself.
Where does our information come from?
We start with official and primary sources: immigration authorities, tourism boards, airport and port operators, and the travel businesses that run the services we describe. Entry rules rely on government pages, and we ask you to check before you fly because rules can change.
Each fact that matters to your decision is listed on the page with its source link and the date we checked it. When a reliable source is unavailable, we describe the point in general terms and leave out the figure.
How do we write the three languages?
English, Bahasa Melayu and Chinese pages are researched together and then written natively. Each version uses the words a Malaysian reader would use, from “percutian” to “包车”, so nothing reads like machine translation.
You can switch language from any page and find the same topic, written for you.
How do we keep pages current?
We review pages when rules, routes or prices move, and when readers report a change. Pages that depend on official rules get checked first.
Cost figures follow the approach in our methodology. Planning numbers are shown as ranges with a stated source and date.
How do we handle corrections?
Message us on WhatsApp with the page name and what changed. We compare your note with the official source, update the page and record the new date.
The contact page shows what to include so we can act quickly.
What do the offer labels mean?
Some guides mention a package or service. We label its status plainly so you know where it stands:
- Listed by partner: a licensed agency partner lists it, and availability is confirmed in the agency’s quote.
- Editorial only: we cover the destination to help you plan, and no package is currently offered.
- Discontinued: it was offered before and is no longer available.
The how referrals work page explains the relationship with the agency behind listed offers.
How does this fit with our other policies?
Our editorial team writes for readers first, and sources decide what a page says, even when a referral fee is involved. Read the disclaimer for how to use planning information, and the about page for who we are. Browse the guides to see the policy at work.
What stays the same on every page?
A few habits apply to every guide, tool and glossary entry:
- Facts that affect your decision show a source and a checked date.
- Rules that can change are marked, with a reminder to confirm before you travel.
- Each language is written for its own readers.
- The correction route is always open through WhatsApp.
These habits keep the pages useful when you return to them months later.
