IndonesiaQuest handles personal data in line with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act 2010 [1]. This page explains what we collect, why, who can see it and how you can ask us to show or delete it. We keep it short so you can read all of it.
Which principles guide us?
The Act sets seven principles, and we organise our practice around them:
- General: we process data only for the purpose you gave it for.
- Notice and Choice: this page tells you what we collect, and you choose what to send.
- Disclosure: we share your brief only with the agency you agree to.
- Security: we keep chats in protected accounts with limited access.
- Retention: we keep data only as long as the enquiry needs.
- Data Integrity: we correct details when you tell us they are wrong.
- Access: you can ask to see or change what we hold.
What do we collect?
We collect the WhatsApp messages you send us, which may include your name, phone number, destination, dates, party size, budget range and travel needs. Share only what helps your plan.
We only ask for what a quote needs: your dates, destination, party size, budget range and any special needs. Passport, IC, card and medical details stay with you and, at booking, go directly to the agency. If you send them by mistake, tell us and we will delete them.
What about analytics and cookies?
No analytics tool is currently installed on this site. If we add privacy-friendly analytics such as Google Analytics, this page will be updated first.
Our planning tools calculate inside your browser, and the numbers you type stay on your device.
Who do we share your information with?
When you ask for a quote and consent, we pass your brief to a licensed Malaysian travel agency. The brief covers destination, dates, party size, budget range and needs. How referrals work describes the step in full.
The agency then handles your details under its own process for booking and payment. We share your brief with the agency you agree to, and with others only where the law requires.
How long do we keep it?
We keep an enquiry while we are helping you and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you return with questions. We then delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner.
How do you ask for access, correction or deletion?
Message us on WhatsApp through the contact page and say what you would like. We confirm the request is from you, then respond. If you would like an independent view, you may contact Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Commissioner.
Please also read the disclaimer, and browse our guides for planning help.
What choices do you have?
You decide what to send, and you can leave the chat at any time. You can ask us to delete your messages, and you can ask the agency about its own handling of your details once your brief reaches it.
If you would rather explore first, our guides and tools work without any message to us.
