Bali family of five: rooms, driver and child fees
Five people do not fit the standard quote, and you want to see where the cost really sits.
IndonesiaQuest Editorial · Updated 20 October 2026
A family of five rarely fits a standard quote. Rooms, the vehicle and child fees each change when the party grows from four to five. This guide shows where the cost sits and which questions to put to each line, without quoting a price.
For the island overview, see the Bali destination page. For the wider choice of where to sleep, see the hotels, resorts and villas hub.
What are the cost lines for a family of five?
Think in lines, not in one total. Each line can be included, excluded or paid on site, and your job is to mark which.
| Line | What changes with five people | Ask or check |
|---|---|---|
| Rooms | One standard room rarely fits five | Maximum occupancy and bed types |
| Vehicle | A larger people mover with luggage space | Seat count, bag capacity, car seat |
| Driver hours | Longer loading and stops with children | Daily hours and overtime terms |
| Airport transfers | Larger vehicle on arrival and departure | Late-arrival waiting time |
| Tickets | Child and adult rates differ | Age cut-offs and who pays on site |
| Meals | Breakfast per person or per room | Child breakfast and extra bed meals |
| Tourist levy | Listed for international visitors | How it applies to each family member |
| Flights and insurance | Outside a land-only quote | Whether the price is land-only |
Copy this table into a note and fill the right-hand column for every quote you receive. Gaps tell you where to ask.
How should five people sleep?
There are three layouts to weigh, and each pushes cost in a different direction.
| Layout | Suits | Check |
|---|---|---|
| Two connecting rooms | Parents plus three children, or grandparents | Connecting door is confirmed, not “on request” |
| One family room with extra beds | Younger children | Printed maximum occupancy and bed size |
| Two-bedroom villa | Privacy and a shared living space | Who cleans, who cooks, extra charges |
Our guide on family rooms, extra beds and occupancy rules explains how to read the room description. If you are thinking about a villa, read villa extra charges before you compare prices.
What vehicle suits five people and luggage?
Five passengers, a driver and suitcases need a people mover with a roomy back row, not a standard sedan. Ask the agency for the exact vehicle type, the seat count and the number of large bags it carries once everyone is on board.
Children’s car seats are worth asking about early. If you bring your own, check that the vehicle has the fittings. Our guide on how a private driver day works explains hours and overtime.
How are child fees handled?
Child pricing differs by hotel, by attraction and by age band. A child may count as free in one place and an adult in the next, so a table of age cut-offs is worth building before you book.
Ask each hotel about the extra bed, breakfast and pool access for a child, and ask each attraction for its age rules. Our guide on child age policies and fees lists the questions. Write the ages of your children into the brief so the agency prices the right band.
Want a second pair of eyes on your plan?
If you are planning Bali for five, send the ages of the children, your dates and the rooms you prefer. We can pass your brief to a licensed agency to price each line and flag what the quote leaves out.
You get a reply from a person who reads your plan, plus a quote from a licensed Malaysian agency if you want one. What about the tourist levy?
The Love Bali portal lists the international tourist levy at IDR 150,000 [1]. Its form offers single and group options, so check on the official portal how the levy applies to each family member, including children, before you pay.
Use only the official address and keep the emailed voucher on your phone. Our guide on the levy and entry fees in your total cost shows where it sits in the budget. Entry rules change, so check before you fly.
How do you see the cost in ringgit?
Put your party size and trip length into the trip cost calculator to see the structure before asking for quotes. It shows which lines grow with five people and which stay the same.
Fixed prices are not listed here, because they depend on dates, hotel choice and group size. A quote from the agency decides the figures, and your lines decide whether two quotes can be compared.
What can a quote leave out?
Quotes for families can omit airport waiting time, tolls and parking, entry tickets, meals other than breakfast, tips and insurance. Ask whether each is included, excluded or to be paid on site.
Also ask about cancellation terms and what happens if a child becomes unwell. A calm answer now is worth more than a polite surprise later.
Best suited to, and better options when
A two-room or connecting-room plan with one larger vehicle suits five-person families who want a base and a driver for outings. A villa suits those who value a shared living space and flexible meal times. If cost is the main limit, a single base with fewer driver days brings the structure down without cutting the trip short.
If five people feels too large for one plan, consider splitting the trip into a resort base with a few short, well-chosen outings. That keeps the vehicle and driver lines short and the children rested.
What to do next
Send the agency your dates, the ages of the children and your preferred room layout. Ask for the quote in lines, with each marked included, excluded or paid on site. Then compare two quotes line by line rather than by total.

Questions Malaysians ask
What number of rooms does a family of five need in Bali?
Two rooms is the usual starting point, though a family room with extra beds or a two-bedroom villa can work. Check the maximum occupancy printed on the room type, because a room sold for four people may not legally or comfortably sleep five.
What size vehicle suits five people and luggage?
Five passengers plus the driver and suitcases need a larger people mover, not a standard sedan. Ask the agency for the vehicle type, the seat count and the number of large bags it carries, and confirm car seats if you have a young child.
Do children pay full price in Bali?
Child fees differ by hotel and by attraction, and by age band. Ask for each age cut-off for free, reduced and full price, and whether an extra bed or breakfast for a child is charged separately.
Does every family member pay the Bali tourist levy?
The official Love Bali portal lists the levy for international visitors, and its form offers single and group options. Check on the portal how it applies to children before you pay, and keep the emailed voucher on your phone.
How do I keep a quote for five people transparent?
Ask for the quote in separate lines: rooms, vehicle, driver hours, transfers, tickets, meals and levy. Mark each line as included, excluded or to pay on site. Lines with no answer are gaps to ask about, not zeros.
