Bali for six: private tour cost per person
Six of you are going together and nobody is sure how the shared costs split.
IndonesiaQuest Editorial · Updated 20 October 2026
A private tour for six works because the biggest shared cost, the vehicle and driver, is split between more people. Not everything shrinks, though: rooms, tickets and the tourist levy follow the head count or the room count. This guide shows which rows are shared and which are per person, using the budgets and package decisions hub as the wider map.
We publish no fixed prices because they depend on dates, route and season. What follows is how the cost behaves as the group grows, not a price.
Which rows are shared, and which are per person?
Think of a private tour as two kinds of rows. Shared rows are paid once and split, and per-person rows are paid by each traveller.
| Row | Kind | How it behaves for six |
|---|---|---|
| Vehicle and driver | Shared | Split six ways, if all fit in one vehicle |
| Fuel and parking | Shared | Split six ways |
| Rooms or villa | By room | Depends on how you pair up |
| Airport transfer | Shared or per vehicle | One vehicle or two |
| Entry tickets | Per person | Six tickets at each site |
| Tourist levy | Per person | Six levies |
| Meals | Per person | Six meals per sitting |
| Tips and extras | Per person | Agree on a kitty |
Read the table as a map of what a larger group changes, and what it does not.
How does the vehicle share work?
A private driver is priced for the vehicle and the day, not per passenger. When more people fill the seats, each person carries a smaller slice of that row. This is why groups find the driver row easier to carry than a couple does.
The limit is the seat count. Six adults with luggage may need a larger vehicle, and a larger vehicle can change the day rate. Ask the operator for the seats and luggage space, and give the number of bags.
Our guide on what a private Bali driver package includes lists the other driver rows.
How do rooms change the per-person share?
Rooms follow the layout. Three twin or double rooms, or one villa with extra bedrooms, give different totals and different group experiences. A villa can add privacy and shared meals, and hotel rooms can add breakfast and a pool.
Ask for both layouts on the same dates, and note who sleeps where before the group commits. Room share is the row most likely to cause friction, so settle it early.
What is charged per head?
Entry tickets, meals and the tourist levy are per person, so six travellers means six of each. Bali asks international visitors to pay a tourist levy of IDR 150,000 on the official portal [1]. Each traveller needs their own voucher, so the group should keep all QR codes on one phone as well as on each traveller’s.
For the steps and where the levy sits in your total, read the levy and entry fees guide and the Love Bali levy glossary entry.
Want a second pair of eyes on your plan?
If your group of six cannot agree on the split, send us your dates, party and room preferences. We will lay out which rows are shared and can pass the brief to a licensed agency for a quote.
You get a reply from a person who reads your plan, plus a quote from a licensed Malaysian agency if you want one.Do larger groups get a discount?
Some operators adjust the quote for group size, and others hold one rate for the vehicle. Ask the agency to show the same itinerary for two party sizes, so you see where the share changes. Our guide on group discounts and how quotes change with party size explains what to look for.
Avoid comparing a quote for six with a quote for three on different days or hotel standards. Hold the dates and standard fixed.
How should the group split the bill?
Name one person to hold the quote and collect payments. Share the written inclusions list with everyone, and agree on a small kitty for tips and extras in ringgit before the trip.
Muslim travellers in the group should ask for a meal-by-meal list from the agency, and look for the BPJPH halal logo, the Indonesian halal agency’s label, when eating out. Keep digital copies of the quote and every voucher where the whole group can see them.
What should you settle before asking for a quote?
- Do all six fit in one vehicle with their bags?
- How will the group pair up in rooms?
- Who holds the quote and collects payments?
- Which per-person rows does the group want counted?
- Are flights inside the price?
- What are the cancellation and date-change terms for the group?
- What is the agency’s MOTAC licence number?
The trip cost calculator shows a planning view in ringgit for your party size, and the agency confirms the final figures. The MOTAC licence glossary entry explains how to check an agency.
How do you keep six people happy on the road?
Agree on the pace before the trip, because six opinions meet in one vehicle. Choose one main outing a day and leave the rest open, so nobody feels rushed or left out.
Share the day’s plan the evening before, and name who handles the driver’s contact. A shared note on everyone’s phone with the quote, vouchers and meeting times keeps small questions from slowing the group.
What happens after you WhatsApp us?
We read your brief, then, with your consent, pass it to a licensed Malaysian travel agency that prepares the quote. We are an independent guide, not the agency, and the referral is disclosed in our footer. Keep the reply for the group to compare, and ask the agency to confirm vehicle, rooms and per-person rows in writing.

Questions Malaysians ask
Is a private tour cheaper per person for six than for two?
The vehicle and driver are shared, so each person carries a smaller share of that row. Rooms and per-head fees do not shrink in the same way. Ask for the same itinerary quoted for two party sizes and compare row by row.
Can six people fit in one vehicle in Bali?
It depends on the vehicle and the luggage. Six adults with bags may need a larger vehicle or two. Ask the operator for the seat count and luggage space, and give your bag numbers.
How do six people split rooms?
Groups pair up in twin or double rooms, or take a villa with extra bedrooms. Compare both layouts on the same dates, because a villa changes meals, privacy and the airport transfer.
Is the tourist levy paid once per group?
No, the Love Bali levy applies to each international visitor, so six travellers pay six levies. Check the official portal and keep every QR voucher on one phone.
How should a group agree on who pays what?
Name one person to hold the quote and collect payments. Share the written list of inclusions with everyone, and agree on a small kitty for tips and extras before the trip.
