Lombok private tour package: what is included

You have a quote for Lombok and want to know what the price really covers.

IndonesiaQuest Editorial · Updated 20 October 2026

A Lombok private tour package should say which days a driver is booked, which ports and boats are covered and which hotel each night sits in. Lombok is spread out, so the route you choose changes the quote more than the hotel star rating does. Our budgets and package decisions hub explains how to compare quotes in general.

This page turns that method into a Lombok checklist. If you are still choosing between bases, read the Lombok destination guide first.

What does a Lombok private tour package cover?

Packages differ because the components differ. The table lists every row you should be able to find in a written quote, with a note on what to ask.

Component What to look for Ask or check
Airport pickup and drop-off Meeting point and name board Waiting time for late flights
Private car and driver Vehicle size, daily hours Overtime rule, free days, luggage space
Fuel, tolls and parking Stated as included or extra Who pays on long days
Hotels or resort Named property, room type, breakfast Child beds, distance to town
Gili boat and harbour fees Boat type, harbour, return crossing Luggage handling at both ends
Sightseeing entry fees Waterfalls, beaches, villages Fees, parking and local guides
Meals Breakfast, lunches, dinners Halal handling, road stops
Flights from Malaysia Separate booking unless stated Whether the price is land-only
Insurance, tips, extras Left to you What you arrange yourself

If a row is missing, ask for it in writing. A missing row is a question, not a saving.

Why does the base you choose change the price?

The north coast, the south coast and the Gili islands sit far apart. A plan that moves between them needs more driver hours and a boat leg, while a plan that stays in one area needs fewer. Our guide to Lombok regions explains what each area offers.

Ask the operator to name the base for each night and the drive between them. Ask what the driver does on a free day, whether the car stays at your hotel and whether a resort shuttle is available instead.

If you are splitting nights between two areas, tell the agency early. A third base adds a transfer day that a quote can easily leave out.

Do you need a driver the whole time?

It depends on your plan. A stay centred on one resort with one or two outings may need a car only for the airport and a couple of days. A touring plan across the island needs a driver for each day.

Our guide on whether you need a driver in Lombok walks through the cases.

Ask the quote to state the driver days clearly. Our explainer on how a private driver day works covers hours, overtime and the questions to put to the operator.

What about ports, boats and the Gili islands?

Boat legs are the line that can stay vague in a quote. Lombok has more than one departure harbour, and the right one depends on where you sleep and where you are going. Our guide to Lembar, Bangsal and Kayangan ports compares them.

For any boat leg, ask for these details in writing:

  1. The harbour and the boat type.
  2. Whether the ticket is one way or return.
  3. Who handles luggage at each end.
  4. What happens if the sea is rough and the boat is cancelled.
  5. Whether the driver waits for you or the car changes.

The land arrangement changes when you cross to a Gili island, so ask how you reach the hotel on the other side.

Want a second pair of eyes on your plan?

If your Lombok quote lists a driver and a hotel but you cannot tell what happens at the port, send it over. We will give the inclusions a second look and, with your consent, pass your brief to a licensed agency.

You get a reply from a person who reads your plan, plus a quote from a licensed Malaysian agency if you want one.

What about resort stays and isolation?

Some Lombok resorts sit far from towns and restaurants. That suits a quiet couple or a family who plans to stay put, but it changes the cost of leaving the property. Ask how far the resort is from the nearest town, what the shuttle costs and whether meals are served on site.

For children and grandparents, ask about stairs, pool depth and the walk from the car to the room. A resort that looks flat on a map can have long stairs between the lobby and the room.

How do you plan halal meals and prayer breaks?

Ask the agency for a meal-by-meal list covering every day, including the road stops. Look for the BPJPH halal logo, which is the label of Indonesia’s halal authority. We name a venue as certified only with evidence.

Tell the operator your prayer times so the driver can plan stops. A day that fits sights, meals and prayer comfortably is easier to enjoy than one that squeezes them all in.

What can sit outside the price?

Some costs sit outside a package even when the headline looks complete. Check for these:

  • Entry fees to waterfalls, beaches and villages.
  • Local guide fees at trekking and waterfall sites.
  • Travel insurance and the arrival card steps.
  • Tips for the driver, boat crew and hotel staff.
  • Extra nights if a flight or boat changes.

Our Lombok cost-structure guide lays these rows out beside the boats and resort. Put your quote into the package inclusion comparator to see everything in one table.

What should you ask before you pay?

Put these questions to each operator, and keep the answers in writing:

  1. Is the price per person, per room or per vehicle?
  2. Which hotels are named, and can they be swapped?
  3. Which days is the driver booked, and for what hours?
  4. Which boat legs, entry fees and meals are included?
  5. What is the cancellation rule if a flight or boat moves?
  6. Who do I call on the road if the car is late?

A quote that answers all six is easier to compare. A quote that avoids one is worth a second look before you pay a deposit.

What happens after you WhatsApp us?

We read your brief, then, with your consent, pass it to a licensed Malaysian travel agency, which prepares the quote. We are an independent guide, not the agency, and the referral is disclosed in our footer.

Keep the reply for comparison, and ask the agency to confirm inclusions, exclusions and cancellation terms in writing.

Questions Malaysians ask

Does a Lombok private tour package include the Gili boat?

Only if the quote says so. Some packages name the harbour, the boat and the luggage handling, while others stop at the port. Ask which harbour is used, whether a return crossing is booked and who carries the bags at each end.

Is the driver included for the whole stay in Lombok?

Check the quote day by day. A driver may be booked only for transfers and sightseeing days, with free days left uncovered. Ask what the daily hours are, what overtime costs and whether the driver is on call for an evening meal.

Why do Lombok quotes differ so much?

Lombok is spread out, so a north-coast plan, a south-coast plan and a Gili plan need different cars, boats and hours. Two quotes only compare when they cover the same bases, the same days and the same boat legs.

Are tickets to waterfalls and beaches covered?

Entry fees can be left as a line you pay on the day. Ask for a list of the named sites and whether fees, parking and local guides are included. A written list prevents small payments from adding up unnoticed.

How do I plan halal meals on a Lombok tour?

Ask the agency for a meal-by-meal list for each day, including road stops, and look for the BPJPH halal logo. Resorts far from town may have limited choices, so confirm the breakfast and dinner arrangements before you pay.

What should I send to get a Lombok quote?

Send your dates, the number of adults and children, ages, flight times, preferred bases (north, south or Gili), halal needs and a ringgit budget. That is enough for a licensed agency to price the days line by line.

Entry rules, ferry times and prices change. Check the official source or your licensed agency before you book.
