Labuan Bajo and Komodo, editorial only
You have seen the dragons and sunset boats online and want to know what is real.
Editorial guide only: no package is currently offered for this destination.
IndonesiaQuest Editorial · Updated 20 October 2026
Labuan Bajo is the gateway to Komodo National Park, and it is covered here as editorial guidance only. No package is currently offered for it on this site. Use this page to understand what a visit involves and to decide whether another island fits your leave better.
If you are still choosing a region, start with the regions and destination choices hub. Our guide to editorial-only destinations explains the label.
What is Komodo National Park?
Komodo National Park was established in 1980 and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1991 [1]. Its main islands are Komodo, Padar and Rinca, and Labuan Bajo is the base and port for tourist boats [2]. A visit is built around boat days, short walks and wildlife viewing.
Read the Komodo visit guide for the details. The overview of what we cover explains our editorial-only status.
Why is there no current package?
Labuan Bajo is no longer in the supplier catalogue behind our referrals. An old listing on another site does not prove that a trip is available now. Our guide to discontinued listings shows how to read the signs.
Next, treat any Komodo price you see online as a question to confirm, not an offer.
Who gets the most out of Komodo?
Return visitors with spare leave, comfortable boat travellers and wildlife-minded groups get the most from it. It is best suited to people who accept long transfers and boat days. Short holidays and groups with limited mobility may be happier elsewhere.
Want a second pair of eyes on your plan?
If Komodo is tempting but your leave is short, send us your dates and who is travelling. We can talk through Bali or Lombok instead, and with your consent pass a brief to a licensed agency for those islands.
You get a reply from a person who reads your plan, plus a quote from a licensed Malaysian agency if you want one.How do you plan Muslim-friendly meals?
Boat meals and town restaurants vary. Ask any operator for a meal-by-meal list rather than a general promise. Look for the halal logo of Indonesia’s halal agency, Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Produk Halal (BPJPH), and confirm kitchen arrangements in writing.
What should you check before entering Indonesia?
Before you plan Labuan Bajo, check the official immigration pages, as entry rules change. Your arrival declaration for Indonesia goes through the All Indonesia portal of the immigration directorate. Use only that address, since look-alike sites exist.
Which islands can you compare instead?
Bali suits culture, food and variety with a short flight. Lombok suits quieter beaches and longer road transfers. Both are covered with full planning pages and licensed-agency referral on request.
What happens after you WhatsApp us?
We read your brief and talk through options. With your consent, we pass a brief for Bali or Lombok to a licensed Malaysian travel agency, which prepares the quote. We are an independent guide, not the agency, and the referral is disclosed in our footer.

Questions Malaysians ask
Can I book a Komodo trip through IndonesiaQuest?
Labuan Bajo and Komodo are editorial only on this site. No package is currently offered here, and an old listing elsewhere does not prove current availability. Use this page to plan questions, and compare Bali or Lombok if you want a quote.
How do I reach Labuan Bajo from Malaysia?
Travellers connect through a larger Indonesian airport, so allow a full travel day each way. Schedules change, so check current options with the airlines and an agency before you plan leave around them.
Is Komodo suitable for children and grandparents?
Boat days, heat and uneven trails demand stamina. Families with young children or slower walkers should ask which trails and boat types suit them. A land-based beach holiday is easier for some groups.
Is Komodo halal-friendly?
Boat meals and local restaurants vary. Ask any operator for a meal-by-meal list, look for the BPJPH halal logo and confirm kitchen arrangements in writing. We name a venue as certified only with evidence.
